Out-of-print recordings of Bach cantatas conducted by Fritz Lehmann

Fritz Lehmann was a great Bach conductor, as witnessed by his performances of the Berlin 1949 Matthew Passion (originally available on Vox LP, then withdrawn, lately on LYS 619-621) and by the cantatas published by Arkiv in 1950 and 1952 on five LPs. To my knowledge, these latter have never been put onto CD. We have copied the nine cantatas onto three CDs, as in the following list. Soloists include, variously, Gunthild Weber, soprano; Lore Fischer, alto; Helmut Krebs, tenor; Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, baritone; Herman Schey, bass. The Berliner Motettenchor and Berliner Philharmoniker, or the Chor der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik Frankfurt a. Main and Orchester des Bachfestes Göttingen 1950. The CDs may be ordered by e-mail at ScholaAntiqua@embarqmail.com. No texts. Fifteen dollars for each CD, including postage; checks may be made out to Schola Antiqua and mailed to R. John Blackley, 407 Spring Valley Road, Lexington, Virginia 24450.
